Press release – Thursday 19th June

The Babilou Family Group unveils its new strategic plan to accelerate growth and development by 2028.

Babilou Family, one of the world leaders in early childhood education with operations in 10 countries, today announced the roll-out of its new strategic plan up to 2028. Following an overhaul of its governance, this is a new stage in the transformation of the Group, whose objective is to become the best education operator in each of the countries where it operates.

The resultat of an unprecedented collaborative approach, this plan was co-constructed with teams in the field at more than 1,000 centers, parent panels and all country teams. It is based on four fundamental pillars and commitments that will guide all the Group's actions between now and 2028.

1. Guaranteeing an impeccable level of safety and quality

As an absolute priority, Babilou Family is strengthening its commitment to children's safety.

To ensure this, the Group is launching "engagED", a reinforced audit programme centred around a charter of 12 commitments shared by all the Group's centers, aimed at guaranteeing compliance with local regulations and Babilou Family's safety commitments. The Group has also set itself the goal of obtaining certification by the best local labels by 2028 for all its centers.

Babilou Family has also become the first player in the sector to introduce a monthly measurement of parent satisfaction, which has been in place since April. This regular survey enables us to measure their expectations and the quality of our actions, so that we can continue to improve our practices.

2. Improving the well-being of nursery professionals to tackle the talent shortage in the early childhood sector

The Group is placing its 14,000 employees at the heart of its transformation. In order to offer them genuine career paths, Babilou Family will set up a programme in each country to encourage individual development and internal promotion, with the aim of having 65% of managers promoted internally within 3 years.

To reinforce the training of employees in the crèche and at head office, they will be offered a 10-hour course on education issues.

Finally, to pursue its commitment to gender equality, Babilou Family has set itself the following targets the objective of having 50% women in its management teams by 2028.

3. Extending the Group's educational mission to all its centers

Over the past three years, Babilou Family has carried out in-depth work to develop its educational practices based on neuroscience, in particular through the publication of its book L'Education Durable (Sustainable Education) and the organization of the International Congress of Neuroscience, in partnership with UNESCO in 2024.

Today, Babilou Family is reaffirming its educational mission, with the aim of enabling children to develop their curiosity, self-confidence and social skills.

To continue improving its educational programmes, Babilou Family has set up an Educational and Scientific Committee made up of five recognized experts in the fields of neurosciences and psychology: Dr Grégoire Borst (Université Paris Cité, Paris), Dr Carmen Dione (Université des Trois-Rivières, Canada), Dr Angela Low (University of Vancouver, Canada), Dr Edward Melhuish (University of Oxford, UK) and Dr Amalini Simon (APHP, Paris). The educational committee will meet for the first time on 9 July.

Babilou Family also uses the results of scientific research to improve the relationship between nursery staff and parents. As a result, by 2027, all parents will benefit from 3 welcome sessions and 2 observation sessions with centers professionals.

More broadly, Babilou Family is committed to strengthening awareness of nature and the environment in its educational programmes: by 2026, all centers will have a green space and the Group is committed to ensuring that by 2028, all children will be able to enjoy at least one outing a day.

4. Playing an even greater role in addressing major societal issues, in particular the falling birth rate

To offer more childcare solutions and support families, the Group is announcing the opening of around 200 new centers worldwide by 2028.

The Babilou Family Foundation has decided to allocate a third of its budget to research into the impact of childcare on the rising birth rate in developed countries. Between now and 2026, it will focus on children's health, research into the birth rate and funding for educational innovation.

"Our ambition is strong, in keeping with our mission: to build a better world through education and the care given to each child. We want to become the best operator in the world, and to continue to be the place where children are best cared for, where the teams are most committed to helping children develop, while guaranteeing the safety and quality that are essential. To achieve this, we have defined clear objectives for 2028 and concrete measures to implement a global mobilisation", says Christophe Fond, CEO of Babilou Family
